Randy Boyd is a Tennessee business leader and entrepreneur who currently serves as President of the University of Tennessee System. He is also the founder of PetSafe Brands (formerly Radio Systems Corporation), a global leader in pet product innovation, known for brands such as PetSafe, Invisible Fence®, Kurgo, Premier Pet, and SportDOG. With more than three decades of experience building and leading organizations, Randy has played a significant role in shaping both the business and educational landscape of Tennessee. His work in higher education includes serving as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, where he helped drive initiatives focused on workforce development, economic growth, and expanding access to education. Randy has been deeply involved in advancing educational opportunity across the state, including his leadership in initiatives like tnAchieves and the broader Tennessee Promise program, which has helped thousands of students pursue higher education through mentorship and scholarship support. In addition to his work in business and education, Randy has made a lasting impact on community development and animal welfare. Through his leadership at Radio Systems Corporation, he has supported efforts to make Knoxville one of the most pet-friendly communities in the country, including investments in public dog parks, animal adoption resources, and veterinary education. Randy holds a degree in Industrial Management from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree from University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Jenny, are longtime residents of East Tennessee.
